We were so excited to open up a new Bertolez Tire Shop location in the heart of Plano, Texas. With a population of over 291,000 and a tire market that is sadly under served, we knew this would be a perfect location to expand our operations….so we thought
According to a list compiled by Niche.com, Plano finished 5th on the “2024 Best Cities To Live In.” Based on this information and some basic market research we made the decision to open up a new tire shop on the busy street of 15th street, located in the heart of downtown.
July 1 marked our grand opening and we started off with a bang. We held a cookout with burgers, brats, and beers for the 21+ crowd. On this day we were focused on promoting and building a local brand name, attracting potential customers, and introducing ourselves to the community. We were not solely focused on selling tires but we did get some cars rolling in for some free tire rotations.
In addition to the BBQ and Beer special we had we were also offering free tire rotations and 30% off a new set of 4 tires. We offered the special on all Yokohama, Michelin, Nokian, and Firestone models. The event was a great success having sold 100 set of new tires and rotating 56 sets of tires.
When we opened up the next morning our front windows had gotten a brick thrown through them and 14 sets of brand new tires STOLEN! There was graffiti spray painted on the side of our building spelling the words “s-u-c-k-e-r-s.” We were deeply saddened by all of this and knew that we had to get some more security patrols in the area to prevent this theft and vandalism from happening again.
The future of our Plano, Texas location relies on being able to secure our inventory, protect integrity of our building, and making our customers feel safe against potential robbers. We knew we had to hire a company that provides trained and armed security guards.
